Description
"On Rosh Hashana, on Rosh Hashana, A melody bloomed, that no one knew, And within 24 hours the song was heard, From all the city windows"
In preparation for this Jewish New Year, we bring you a piece of history. Performing this Rosh Hashanah song is an early 70’s Israeli girl band called Shokolad, Menta, Mastik (chocolate, mint, and bubble gum). The band gained international recognition after performing their song “Emor Shalom” as Israel’s 1976 entry to Eurovision. In challenging times, we reflect on where we’ve come from—a rich legacy of music, art, joy, loss, triumph, and resilience. As we celebrate this Jewish New Year, we honor our heritage and continue to make history, undeterred by those who would seek to diminish it.
