It is said that some hip-swaying ladies along the banks of the Rio São Francisco carrying laundry on their heads was of inspiration for João Gilberto to write the rhythmic song.
What a wonderful little song it is and what a major impact it had on the people back in the late 50's looking for a new way of making and experience music in Brazil.
The much more happy and carefree attitude, than the heavy feel of the gloomy samba lyrics, of the young and upcoming musicians grew out to become a breeze of fresh air.
Somewhere the name BOSSA NOVA popped up. Gathering love from all over the world...singing of the sea and the sun and beautiful sandy beaches, of love and little boats and blue skies. Oh how lovely!
