Chic, fronted by producers/writers/musicians Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards were at their peak when this song was recorded. “My Forbidden Lover” has since been sampled on songs like Luther Vandross’ “Shine”, Swedish pop group Alcazar “Sexual Guarantee “, Black Eyed Peas “Fashion Beats”, just to name a few of the 50+ songs!! Usually, it is that jazzy chord progression in the chorus that gets sampled. Had it not been for the hate-infused backlash on Disco, this song may have had even more impact on future pop music.
