Description
“Fisherman’s Song At Dusk” is a traditional Chinese folk song originally composed for Chinese Guzheng. It entails culturally significant scenery from the nature — the beautiful river and sunset in ancient Henan, a Chinese province, along with Chinese fisherman’s cheerful mood to celebrate China’s beautiful wonders. It also drew inspiration from Tang Dynasty poem “TengWangGeXu” and Chinese Guqin piece “GuiQuLaiXi".
This is an ensemble piece for flute and piano intended to perform a pentatonic scaled, culturally significance piece transposed from a Chinese folk instrument. This performance emphasizes on stylistic treatments such as double-tonguing, vibrato and ornamentation to better mimic Chinese Guzheng; it also highlights emotional expression through dynamic change and rubato to put forth the positive cultural expression.
