In this TCM evening, we celebrate Broadway-turned-MGM-turned-television superstar Howard Keel whose bass-baritone timbre made him a hit in stage shows like Carousel, Oklahoma!, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and films like ANNIE GET YOU G*N, SHOW BOAT, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, and CALAMITY JANE, dovetailed in the 1980s with a starring spot (season 8 and on) on TV's prime-time soap opera delight DALLAS as the oil baron Clayton Farlow. His legacy is underwhelming for all he contributed to the oeuvre of musicals-on-screen.
