Paper Towns
‘Paper Towns’ is a collaborative Folk/Americana project, the result of the song writing talents and friendship of two musicians; Jaimi Faulkner & Jan Schröder. Initially linked by their publishers, the duo met and produced their first single ‘Early Morning Coffee Cups,’ which they released under Faulkner’s name. The result was a shared conviction to create an on-going collaborative outlet for their songs. Shortly after, the pair began operating under the moniker, ‘Paper Towns,’ coupling Faulkner’s warm, throaty, tenor voice and refined acoustic playing with Schroeder’s solid bass and spacious electric guitar sound. Drummer and long time friend, Daniel Farrugia, (Angus & Julia Stone, The Cat Empire) was invited to join the duo, adding his personal flair and rhythmic prowess to the project. To complete the mix, literally, famed producer and engineer, Ian Grimble, (Mumford & Sons, Bear’s Den, Rhodes) put his distinctive stamp on the tracks, mixing them at Church Studios in London.

Lyrics: AMSTERDAM (Jaimi Faulkner / Jan Schröder)
I may paint myself as insincere
If you ask me how I’m doing I will tell you, what you want to hear
But it takes time till I can draw you near
I’m gonna wrestle with my demons in the low light in the hope this fog will clear
Maybe tomorrow, again
Maybe tomorrow, by chance
And I’ll leave a light where it began Amsterdam
Late night pictures in a photo booth
Acting all wild and reckless like there’s nothing left to lose Never learnt to wear it on my sleeve
You waiting on me so patiently but in the end you had to leave
Songs enfolded in the cool night air
Bathing in the headlights, bare feet, in that summer dress I still feel you weighing on my chest
What hurts most is knowing that things got left unsaid
Now the fog I’m wading through is getting heavy And all the sparkle has run out of this old town Every stone here bears a piece, of our history Ain’t no search party could ever find me now
Maybe tomorrow, again
Maybe tomorrow, by chance
And I’ll leave a light where it began Amsterdam

Lyrics: WILDFLOWER (Jaimi Faulkner / Jan Schröder)
I rose up gently like a swallow in the night
Its wings heavy in full flight
Moving cross the great divide
I bet my money on the oldest horse to win
On his last legs he come in
By the hair upon his chin
The loser took the silver pin
And its all or nothing lately
Fruit grown on the vine
Takes its own sweet time
All or nothing lately
Raised up from the seed
Wildflower among the weeds
Take a chance on me
I’m moving gingerly between daylight and the dream
Trying hard to keep it clean
Light rays cast a golden beam
In all reality we get no guarantees
Lose the ground beneath our feet
Treading water out at sea
Their depths below we may not ever reach

Lyrics: EMILY (Jaimi Faulkner / Jan Schröder )
Got washed up in this sleepy town
Like a stone in the bed of a river
Nestled between the day and the dream
All folding into each other
I've sang my heart out in every bar
And not one soul did I move
'til a single tear from those charcoal eyes had me struck down like a fool
Don’t break your heart
Don’t break your heart over me
Don’t break your heart
Emily
Don’t go breaking your heart over me
Restless feet on an empty street
A new sun in a crawling yellow
Reflections I see of a younger me
Left hidden in a grave so shallow
Spent my nights on my own searching for my truth
Tell me What good did that do?
Oh the road less travelled is a sparrows song
That cuts to the soul of you
Don’t break your heart
Don’t break your heart over me
Don’t break your heart
Emily
Don’t go breaking your heart over me
Like paper to flame
These callused old hands are no match for your porcelain skin
Oh and I fail to see, what you’re seeing in me
But may my words get swept with the wind
