"(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66", written by singer-songwriter Bobby Troup in 1946, was recorded that same year by the Nat King Cole Trio. Released as a single on the new Capitol Records label, the song reached #1 on the Billboard R&B and pop charts. Nat King Cole was to record Route 66" again for his 1956 jazz album After Midnight and his 1961 retrospective album, The Nat King Cole Story. This version can be found on the 4 CD box set, Cool Cole, The King Cole Trio Story, on the Proper label. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video.
