Description
Sean McLaughlin, fidil / fiddle. Rileanna / Reels: The Earl's Chair, Tom
Steele
Dhá ríl a raibh an-ghnaoi orthu faoi lár an 20ú céad. Tá seans ann gur cumadh an chéad cheann timpeall an ama sin. Deir Breandán Breathnach gur Tom Steele a bhí ina chomhghleacaí ag an bpolaiteoir Dónall Ó Canaill atá i gceist sa dara teideal, agus ar an ábhar sin is dócha go mbaineann an ríl sin leis an 19ú céad. Bionn na teidil 'The Pure Drop' agus 'Hand Me Down the Tackle' air go minic. 'Cathaoir an Iarla, Tomás Stíl' teideal an riain ar an 78 bunaidh.
Two reels which were commonly played in the mid-20th century. The first may have been composed in that period. Breandán Breathnach says that the Tom Steele of the second title is the one who was a colleague of the politician Daniel 0'Connell, and the tune therefore may belong to the 19th century. It is often called 'The Pure Drop' and 'Hand Me Down the Tackle'. 'Cathaoir an IarIa, Tomás Stí!' (The Earls Chair, Thomas Steele) is the title of the track on the original 78.
