Lyrics:
Before the war, before the plauge,
Our record books are torn and vague,
But one tale endures through the years.
A common boy named Oridell
approached the Royal Guard to tell
the King to please lend him an ear.
The boy refused to step aside.
They cut him down. He should have died,
but somehow he rose to his feet.
Fatal wounds, but still he was
the last to stand, victorious.
The King then arose from his seat.

"Tell me, boy, by what magic can you stand?
What force supplies such energizing health?"
This common boy then revealed his battered hand
bore the mark of the god of life itself.

Immortal warrior, Oridell,
our history knows your story well,
for if you can breathe you can win.
So stand back up a thousand times,
and bards will weave a thousand rhymes.
Your ballad is now to begin.

Local legend, Oridell,
Royal knight and sword to sell,
a symbol of strength far and wide.
Invaders landing to the North.
Take sword and shield and venture forth.
Our troops need your strength on their side.
Splitting blisters, fitting in.
Brothers, sisters, battle-kin.
The bonds forged through travel are strong.
Your enemies are drawing near.
Your friends suppress a gnawing fear.
The battle ahead will be long.

He still felt pain, but he never let it slow
his drive to help them all survive the end.
His bones could break, but not sever from his whole,
so he used them to shield his wounded friends.

Immortal warrior, Oridell,
Our history knows your story well.
The man who defies his own grave.
On your feet a thousand times,
You're soon to meet a thousand kinds
of people and places to save.

Honored veteran, Oridell,
speckled grey with tales to tell,
your name gathers endless renown.
A shadow rises to the south.
Panic spreads by word of mouth.
A monster whose steps shake the ground.
Hollow eyes and blackened skin,
infecting those who breathe it in.
With each sickly step, bodies lie.
None survive this dark disease.
Your only option is to flee.
Unless you're the man who can't die.

He rode nonstop for 20 days and nights,
switching horses with survivors that he passed,
to stand atop a crowded city's heights,
with a blight advancing on it fast.

Who will care for all the refugees?
They're trying to escape but they need time.
Who will dare to place their minds at ease?
Oridell declared, "this duty is mine."

"I won't promise victory - I'm only one man
against a goliath, but now
I know why a god put this mark on my hand.
If I fight, then I might slow it down."

He wore no shield, for a terror of such size
guaranteed blows a shield could not withstand.
He rode no horse, for to spare the steed its life.
Only he could survive the task at hand.

Immortal warrior Oridell,
they're trusting you, so guard them well.
The gods have their eyes on you now.
So stand back up and hold the line.
Keep drawing breath, keep buying time.
Help them, help them somehow.

Through the war and through the plague,
we all recall a single name,
for time could not do it apart.
When the fight had settled down,
a titan lay upon the ground,
the blade of a man through its heart.

Victory through resilience not through size.
He defied every break and every pain.
Determined he wouldn't be the one who dies,
through the life that still flowed in his veins.

Immortal hero, Oridell,
we know and tell your story well.
The man who saw death and refused.
Heroes rise and heroes fall,
but always you outshine them all,
for no one can fill your shoes.

Who could ever fill your shoes?
