Intro
I grew up on the sunny Gulf Coast. We had plenty of sunshine, but when winter came, we were void of snow. As kids, we all knew the winter songs; “Let It Snow,” “White Christmas” and of course, “Frosty the Snowman.” Snow was in our songs, but never in our yard.
But one cold night the weatherman shocked us, saying it may snow tomorrow. The next morning I was up early staring at a blanket of snow like I had only seen in movies. I’m guessing it was one or two inches, which is a dusting for Buffalo, New York, but a blizzard for South Alabama. All of the neighborhood kids went crazy. We had our first-ever snowball fight, and trust me, it was World War 3! Since we lived in flat country and none of us had sleds, our next agenda was to build snowmen. The excitement in the air was almost electric. We all retreated to our yards and started building snowmen. I built mine in the side yard. Mom gave me scarf to put around his neck and I gave him a carrot nose.
Later on, I went around the neighborhood looking at all of the snowmen. There was one in almost every yard. We had all made the most of this special day that soon would pass.
There is something about passion that is so contagious. Excitement creates excitement. Do you remember the first time you told someone about what God had done in your life? Do you recall the first time you saw an answer to prayer? Just like melting snow, we cannot waste the opportunity. Let's renew our passion and work for His Kingdom, building something that lasts forever.
