"When He Reached Down His Hand" is a beloved gospel song that speaks to the deep and transformative power of God's love and mercy. Written by G.E. Wright, it became popular in the Southern Gospel and country gospel genres. The lyrics reflect a powerful moment of redemption, describing how God's hand reached down to lift someone from a low and troubled place, a theme that resonates with many listeners facing hardship or seeking spiritual reassurance.
The Hoppers Brother and Connie (eventually to become just the Hoppers in 1981), are a multi award winning Southern Gospel Group from North Carolina. Starting simply as the Hopper Brothers (Will, Steve, Claude and Monroe), Connie joined in 1958 playing the piano and thus a legend was born. This comes from their 1972 album called "The Unseen Hand."
"4. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5. even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)," -Ephesians 2:4-5
Verse 1
Once my soul was astray from the Heavenly Way
I was wretched and as blind as could be
But the Savior in love turned my darkness to day
When He reached down His hand for me
Chorus
When my Savior reached down for me
When He reached down His hand for me
I was lost and undone without God or His Son
When He reached down His hand for me
Verse 2
Since the Lord gave me peace, heaven's joys never cease
Lord I'll give all my life unto Thee
Guide my feet, hold my hand, grant with Thee Lord I'll stand
For He reached down His hand for me
