About the Artist
Guitarist William Coulter has recorded and performed traditional music since 1981, appearing solo and with bands including Isle of Skye and Orison. In 1995 he released his first solo Gourd recording, Celtic Crossing, selections from which have also appeared on Narada and Hearts of Space compilations. William has recorded three highly acclaimed Gourd recordings of traditional Shaker melodies, Simple Gifts, Tree of Life, and Music on the Mountain, with cellist Barry Phillips. William lives in Santa Cruz, performing, producing, engineering, and teaching classical guitar at the University of California. His three-year-old son, Evan, keeps him busy the rest of the time.
